Public Help Needed to Find Shooting Suspects

On Saturday August 7th, 2010 at 8:42 p.m. the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call in the 1100 block of West Gascon Road in San Tan Valley of an individual being shot in the leg.  When deputies arrived, they found an 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the leg.  The victim was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital for his injury.

During the investigation, it was learned the victim was playing basketball with several other individuals at San Tan Community Park (San Tan Blvd and Village Lane).  After they finished playing basketball, the group of players began to walk towards their vehicles. While walking, they heard shots being fired.  The victim along with the other individuals ran for cover.  While the victim was running, he was shot in the right leg.  The victim and witnesses reported the shots were being fired at them sounded as if they were coming from a southeasterly direction.

Shell casings were found from at least two different handguns in a southeasterly direction from where the victim was shot.  Neither the victim nor any of the witnesses reported seeing the shooters.

Anybody with any information on this case is asked to please call Pinal County Sheriff’s Detective Mark Guemes at 520-866-5101.
