Honor Flight dot Org
This month has been very quiet as far as posts to the website are concerned. Between the overtime at work and a vacation time has been very limited.
But I just wanted everyone to know about a group we met on the plane back from Maryland yesterday, Honor Flight Network. What Honor Flight does is gather all the aging and terminally ill WWII veterans that can make it (get on a plane or bus) and deliver them to the memorials in Washington D.C. that honor them and their sacrifices they have made for our country and freedoms. These men and women are passing away at a rate of about 900 a day, so there is a certain sense of urgency.
The group on our plane totaled 28; one saw the raising of the flag in Iwo Jima. I met a gentleman that had seen his brother’s grave at Arlington National Cemetery for the first time (we were there the same day).
Let me just say that this is done totally free for our veterans – doesn’t cost them a dime. The people that escort them from all corners of our nation are volunteers. IMPORTANT: Honorflight.com and Honorflights.com are PAID FOR businesses. What Honor Flight Network does is TOTALLY FREE for our veterans! They are a 501 (c)3 non-profit, and an indispensable asset to the honor and memory of our veterans.
You can be a part of this great cause by a tax deductible donation.
On a side note, the maps for this week should be up this weekend, which is also Cinco de Mayo. Please don’t drink and drive!
